Artist Spotlight – Santogold

Santi White is an American songwriter, producer, and singer. Santogold is inspired by 1980s pop music. She got her pseudonym in the 1980s from a friend’s nickname for her. She worked for Epic Records as an A&R representative, but left to pursue music. Her album, “Santogold” was released on 29 April 2008 in the United States and May 12 in the United Kingdom. Santogold’s goal of the album was to “help break down boundaries and genre classifications” who wasn’t “a black woman singing R&B or hip hop. The writing and recording process took eight weeks.
